Arctic Comfort Hotel

We had a horrible experience here. There was no reception staff, and the access codes they gave us were wrong, so we couldn't get into the hotel. We had to use international roaming to call their call center, which was staffed by people overseas. There was no lift, so we carried our heavy bags ourselves. The corridor was dark and felt haunting, with rusty pillars there and in our room. The shower had no screen, so water spilled everywhere, and it smelled bad when we turned it on. The basin was tiny, there was no bin or storage space in the room, and the TV didn't work. Avoid this hotel if you can.

For our three nights, the hotel did the job and I was happy with it. There was no reception, but they emailed us working codes for the building and our room. We didn't see cleaners. The main light didn't work, though it didn't bother us much since the big windows brought in plenty of daylight. There was no lift, and the bathroom door wouldn't close. Everything else was clean. The hot water smelled bad, but that was common around Iceland, not just at this hotel. We also had a big TV, a fridge, coffee machine, kettle, and a nearby supermarket.

SCAM ALERT! The floor was filthy when we walked into the room, and the bathroom stank as soon as the water came on. The rooms may look renovated and have modern amenities, including a Nespresso Coffee Machine, but that's the last thing they should have worried about. We booked two nights and asked them to clean the room on day two, but nothing was done. Instead, they asked us what time we planned to check out so they could prepare for the next guest, even though checkout is clearly listed as 11:00 AM. The TV also turned on by itself, and someone in another room seemed to be controlling it. We spoke with several other people who said they had the same problem. Don't be fooled by the room pictures. Try to stay away from this place.

The location wasn't bad. Make sure you take the bus and save some money.
