We booked at the last minute after our original accommodation cancelled the day before we arrived. It’s a nice place in a great location, with a usable kitchen and dining area. There was a power cut overnight, but the host sorted it out quickly. The main problem was getting a poor night’s sleep because of the lack of soundproofing, both inside and outside. Earplugs were provided, but late check-ins and conversations from people walking by still kept waking me. I suspect the upstairs rooms might be better.

Management was very honest, and the place was generally clean, but the rooms are small and the furniture is older. There’s no breakfast or morning coffee or tea. The walls are paper thin, and even with great neighbours next door, people coming and going from the rooms interrupted my sleep. The bathrooms are shared, so you may have to wait. The sofa bed was hard and it was difficult to sleep. I’d avoid bedroom #4 for that reason.

The location is perfect, right in the heart of the city and only a few minutes’ walk from lots of fun things to do. Rainbow Guesthouse was very clean and orderly, and we had a great stay. I’d highly recommend it and will definitely stay here again when we return!

I’d avoid staying here. The room wasn’t clean, and at night the nearby park draws people who seem drunk or on drugs.

The kitchen has plenty of cookware, so we could prepare our own meals, and the place was tidy. It’s near Laugavegur, within walking distance of Harpa concert hall, and close to a Bonus supermarket. Just be aware there’s no free parking.
