Farmhouse Lodge

The quiet setting and unforgettable scenery were the highlights for me, and I even got to see an aurora. The kitchen is in a spacious separate building, with a fridge guests can use for their food. I booked for mid-September and found the room pretty standard, but comfortable enough. Breakfast was a letdown, with limited options and no eggs. It wasn’t cheap, but I’d happily book here again on my next trip to Iceland.

The location was excellent, close to Vik and nearby places worth seeing. The tent itself was very basic, with just beds and no lights, and you can’t park beside it, so we had to drag our luggage across the grass. The kitchen and bathroom are shared. The bathrooms were clean.

We loved the quiet and privacy at Farmhouse Lodge, while still being a short drive from Vík, Reynisfjara Beach, and other South Coast sights. The shared kitchen and bathrooms were spotless, and breakfast was fresh and tasty, especially the homemade bread. Our yurt was clean, cozy, and roomier than expected. The beds were comfortable, and the warm blankets kept us comfortable through Iceland’s cool summer nights. We spent two nights there, falling asleep to nature sounds and waking up to the mountains and open fields. It was a lovely mix of comfort and adventure.

The tents were clean and roomy, and it was a nice family stay. We found the shared kitchen and bathrooms clean and well equipped. Getting our large bags to the tents was a hassle, so we left most of our things in the car, which worked out fine. The early summer light made it hard to sleep, so bring an eye mask. Prices can be high if you don’t book early, as they are elsewhere in Iceland.
