il Sementone dependance 10C

We had a sleepless night in the sweltering heat. The room has only a small window and no air conditioning, just a little fan, and we couldn’t leave the door open because the street is so narrow. There was also a strange musty smell. The apartment itself is very nice and has everything you need, right in the centre of Assisi, but no, I don’t think we’ll return. At 1:00 AM we were close to leaving. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it in the summer.

The owner was very kind and helpful, and I was otherwise very happy with the apartment. It has a double bedroom, a bathroom and kitchen, plus an adjoining bedroom with a double bed; it’s fully equipped, including a washing machine. The city centre is a few hundred metres away, and paid parking is a short walk from the apartment. My only issue was the mattress in the kitchenette. It’s something I’ve come across in many apartments, but owners should check their mattresses from time to time so tourists can get a good night’s sleep before sightseeing the next day.

For a quiet, simple pilgrimage to the city of the Poor Man, this place is a good fit if you don’t want to spend too much or expect too much. It’s good value compared with prices in Assisi, and the owner is very kind and helpful. The location is excellent, near the Church of San Pietro and not far from Piazza del Comune and the Basilica of San Francesco. There’s free parking nearby, though not during the day; you can also park 800 metres away near the schools or at the paid Giovanni Paolo parking lot.

Check-in was fast, and the apartment is in a quiet part of Assisi, easy to reach from the Giovanni Paolo II car park. It’s beautiful and has everything you need for a short stay, near the basilica.
