Hotel Seelaus

Our balcony room had a mountain view and was cozy, clean, and very well kept. The bathroom was in great shape too, with a spacious rain shower, and the staff were friendly. A handy bonus was the brand-new backpack supplied for the room. We took it on almost every hike. We spent four nights at Hotel Seelaus in Alpe di Siusi, which worked perfectly as a base for the region, including Alpe di Siusi, Seceda, Ortisei, and other hiking areas. It was the best hotel of our Dolomites trip, and we'd stay again if we return. We were glad we booked both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was a generous buffet, and dinner had five courses with several choices. We got a menu each morning to select from, and the food kept us fueled for long hiking days.

The five-course dinners were especially good, though dinner was timed in a way that meant we couldn't be out in the meadows for sunset. We also loved the wellness area and the heated pool's many massage jets after hiking. The hotel is cozy and within walking distance of alpe di suisi. We enjoyed our room and its lovely balcony view, although it got a little hot in summer unless we left the balcony door open.

We especially enjoyed the second, lighter dinner option and being able to mix dishes from the two menus. The food was very good, the rooms were clean and attractive, and the family owners and staff were welcoming. The hotel has recently been renovated and sits directly on the ski slopes. The one drawback is the spa, which feels worn and dated. I expect it would have been refurbished like the rest of the hotel if business hadn't been disrupted by corona. Still, we'd definitely recommend the place and plan to return.

We spent a week here in summer to enjoy the Dolomites. Service was very good, and our clean room had a nice view of the mountains and valley. The spa pool is pleasant for relaxing, though too small for swimming. Breakfast was excellent and dinner was good. You can explore the area on foot or by bike. E-bikes are easy to rent from one of the many rental shops. For the gravel roads, I'd recommend full suspension for better comfort and control.
