Hotel Donegal

A pleasant family-run hotel, and a good choice if you're traveling with kids.

The sea is only a few steps away, and we loved having the pool as another place to unwind between beach days. The whole hotel feels cared for and family-friendly, with plenty of thoughtful touches for children. Giorgia, the hotel's little mascot, kept the kids entertained with her cheerful, playful nature, and even our son was won over by the patient, kind team. We'd been away since 2013 and worried the return might spoil our old memories. It turned out even better than before. Sabrina and Elia greeted us warmly, always helpful and smiling. Debora, Francesca, and Fabio looked after us in the dining room, while Giulio and Doriana made delicious home cooking with both meat and seafood choices. We enjoyed every meal, diet forgotten without too much guilt. We spent two relaxing weeks in July and felt at home. We had such a good time that we're already saying we won't wait another twelve years to come back.

The breakfast was incredible, and the food overall was authentic, delicious, and served in very generous portions with lots to choose from. Even on a weekend stop on our way home from vacation, we felt right at home, which made the stay special. We used to spend holidays at Donegal Hotel years ago, so our expectations were high, and this visit lived up to them. Everything was spotless, too. Cesenatico and Donegal just go together. Highly recommended!

The room is really tiny, though for a weekend I found it perfectly acceptable. For a longer holiday, I'd look for somewhere else. The location is handy, only a few minutes on foot from the sea, and there are plenty of amenities close by. You can tell it's family-run from the care they give guests, and the stay was good overall.
