We’d already paid for the stay, yet at the agreed arrival time we were left outside for over 20 minutes before anyone answered the phone. Then they said I had to pay €150 in taxes for two nights or they wouldn’t give me the access code. Once they finally let us in, it was clear why they’d held us up: the place was filthy, with cockroaches and garbage to step through at the entrance. There were papers in the bins and under the bed, the bed was made from an old sofa, and the mattress was awful. The floor was covered in cockroaches and the place smelled terrible. A total rip-off. Don’t come!

Rita and Gisella were pleasant, responsive hosts, and Rita sorted out a few small problems very quickly. The apartment has a magnificent panoramic terrace overlooking Florence, plus private parking on site, which is a real bonus. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the city center. See you again!

Via Novoli is a well-stocked area, and this new studio apartment could be perfect. It only seemed clean, though. The lack of cleanliness really takes away from the apartment’s otherwise pleasant feel.
