In Piazza della Signoria - Residenza d'Epoca

The intimate breakfast setup and complimentary bar were lovely touches, and the elegant rooms have beautiful views and a sense of history. My husband and I are traveling around Italy, and this has probably been our favorite hotel so far. It’s well placed for Florence’s main destinations, and the staff made us feel at home, helped with everything, and gave us great ideas for what to do, see, and eat. I only wish we’d had more time to stay.

We stayed in the Leonardo room on the first floor, looking out over the piazza. It was spacious, quiet, and luxuriously appointed. Breakfast was excellent each morning, with fresh pastries, fruit, and eggs made just how you like them. One of the best omelettes I’ve had. There’s also a complimentary bar stocked with drinks; we took a couple of beers up to Piazzale Michelangelo for sunset one evening. The hotel is in a great spot for exploring Florence, and the hospitality was second to none. Staying in a historic 14th-century palace made the whole experience feel special, and we felt at home from the minute we arrived. 10/10, would recommend.

Everything was an easy 5-15 minute walk from the hotel, and its 14th-century character gave our stay a lot of charm. The room was large and very clean. We were greeted by Mateo, who helped with our luggage, showed us around, and told us about the hotel’s history. He also helped me make a phone call to an Italian-speaking merchant. George helped me find leather bags, and George, Angelo, Jason, and Rafa looked after us at breakfast each day. We enjoyed the croissants, fruit, and eggs, and the big shared table meant we met some lovely people. Coffee was available all day, along with a fully stocked bar. Sebastian was there for most of our stay, chatted with us, treated us like family, and helped with everything, including arranging parking for my aunt visiting from Bologna. The staff were incredible. This was our favorite hotel in Italy, and it’s the only place I’d choose when I return to Florence.

We had to leave at 4:30 in the morning for our flight, and a staff member came to our room to help with our bags and make sure the taxi arrived. That’s the kind of service we got throughout our stay, everyone made a real effort to help. The hotel is old, with iconic rooms that give you the feeling of stepping back in time. Ours was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a canopy bed and Italian-style bathroom that was still modern. There’s a small third-floor lounge with a self-serve bar and soft drinks, all complimentary, and breakfast was wonderful.
