Mio Hotel

The breakfast had plenty to choose from, including pastries, yogurt, cheese, ham, cereal, scrambled eggs, and sometimes hot sausages. You can ask for the coffee you want, and the bathroom is a good size with hot water that comes through right away. The room is basic but clean, with good winter heating and enough wardrobe and shelf space for a week. I liked the little balcony and the daylight, though when the shuttles are closed it's completely dark. The old building has a small lift that holds up to four people, but it does get you and your luggage upstairs. Restaurants and cafes nearby make it easy to find food even on Sundays or during siesta; there's also a large supermarket one tram stop away, though I walked. The tram ride to the city center takes about 20 minutes, and the airport is three stops away.

We found the hotel a good value, with clean, pleasant rooms that had what we needed. The breakfast buffet had a pretty good range, and the staff were great. Mr. Mateo at reception was especially considerate and made an effort to help with little things, even lending a lighter and suggesting public transport routes into the center. The tram from the airport to the centre of Florence stops a couple hundred metres from the hotel.

The breakfast offered a nice range of food, including hot items, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and in good shape, with a particularly nice shower. Getting here from either the train station or the airport was easy by tram, and you can tap on with contactless.

The tram stop is just a couple hundred metres from the hotel, and the line runs from the airport to the centre of Florence. A ticket costs €1.70 for 90 minutes, just remember to validate it on board. For the price, the rooms were clean and had what we needed, and the staff were amazing. The breakfast buffet had a pretty good selection too. We'll definitely come back 👍
