Palazzo Montebello

They upgraded our room without us even asking, which made our honeymoon feel extra special. The staff were kind, welcoming, and professional, and everything was clean and well cared for. We really appreciated the thoughtful service. We’d choose this hotel again if we return, and would recommend it.

I felt at home here, and I’m sure I’ll come back on another Florence trip. The staff were warm and attentive, and breakfast had a great variety. The hotel is a short walk from Firenze SMN train station, which made getting in and out easy. Our room was spacious and spotless, with quality amenities and blackout curtains that made it properly dark. You could switch all the lights from one button by the bed, and the whole place smelled lovely as soon as we walked in.

Dario at reception was terrific, making recommendations, booking things for us, and greeting us enthusiastically every day. The hotel itself is a lovely boutique place, mixing antiques and modern touches, with a beautiful courtyard near the train station. The breakfast was a letdown compared with other boutique hotels we’ve stayed at in Italy and France. The continental spread was weak, and scrambled eggs were the only hot option included. Omelettes and French toast cost extra, and most mornings nobody asked if we wanted anything besides coffee. Wi-Fi worked well in the lobby but was weak in the rooms. We choose places for good accommodations, location, and a good breakfast, and this one only delivered on two of those three. Management could fix that, but I wouldn’t stay again.

It’s an easy place to return to. Breakfast was excellent, and the team at Palazzo Montebello did a great job. The hotel is close to the train station, which made arrival and departure simple. The main shopping district and museums are about 0.75 miles away, with a pleasant walk along the river. The rooms are elegant, the service was fantastic, and the hotel is beautiful.
