€550 went missing from our locked room during our stay. When we told management, they replied dismissively that they were sorry but couldn’t do anything. We asked for the cleaner’s name so we could make a police report, but they refused to give it to us. They said the cleaner had gone into the cupboard and claimed there was “no money, just passports.” But there was no reason for anyone to go into that cupboard. It hadn’t even been cleaned properly, with crumbs still there, and the snacks hadn’t been replenished, so that explanation doesn’t make sense. Staff were unhelpful and dismissive, with no accountability. Having €550 disappear from a locked room and getting no proper help from the hotel is completely unacceptable. If you care about your belongings and basic customer service, avoid this place.
We booked Tornabuoni Place at the last minute to get away from bad weather in Lombardy and stayed two nights. I’d seen mixed reviews and was a little cautious, but we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was roomy enough for two large suitcases, with space left over for a HIIT workout the next morning. It’s more of an unhosted apartment with several en-suite rooms than a traditional hotel. The location is hard to beat, in the center of Florence near designer shops, restaurants, and Il Magnifico Café, where we had great morning coffee. A garage was only 100 meters away. With the windows closed, the room was completely quiet at night. The “terrace” people mention is really a shared split balcony, so don’t expect too much. There’s no reception, which can make check-in awkward if you arrive after 8pm, so plan for that. For the price and location, we thought it was good value and would stay again, knowing what to expect.
The location is very good, but that’s the one thing I liked. It felt like an Airbnb without the charm of a proper apartment or the convenience of a real hotel. Our room needs renovating, and we could hear every time another guest entered the apartment area. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
This isn’t a hotel, just a few rooms in an apartment building. My wife and I booked for a trip to Florence and let them know through Hotels.com well ahead of time that our flight would arrive late, so we wouldn’t get there until the early hours. When we arrived, the doors were locked and there was no way in. No phone number was staffed after hours when we needed help. After searching for hours, we found another hotel, which cost us a lot at the last minute. They’ve refused to refund our night or contribute to the extra expense, and they’ve stopped replying to my emails. Do not book or stay here. If you’re going in spring or summer, the air conditioning is about as effective as an asthmatic hamster blowing on you.
