Vellutini Number One

Be warned, this place was absolutely terrible. Having a booking canceled at 8 PM on the day you're meant to check in is the last thing anyone wants.

For six weeks, this apartment was lovely to stay in. It's surprisingly spacious considering how close everything is.

Vellutini number one Extremely awful!! Check-in was a mess. The address in the Agoda app, Via dei Velluti, didn't match the one they sent me on WhatsApp, “Borgo santi apostoli 9”. We had to take another taxi, paying for two rides, and they refused to reimburse the extra fare. It took nearly two hours to check in, and the whole process was online. I had no connection inside because there was no signal there. I had to go out and look for somewhere with reception. There was a leak from the shower hose, no hairdryer, and the fan didn't work. We got only two toilet rolls, one used and one new, so we had to use the kitchen paper towels. There were only enough towels for one day even though we stayed three. The attendant gave me the wrong Wi-Fi details, then said she hadn't been told they'd changed and didn't know what they were. It was all very disappointing. At least the attendant responded when I contacted her on WhatsApp. She sent a hairdryer on the last day and arranged to have the shower fixed. The hot water wasn't good either. The worker who came to repair the shower while we were staying said the tank heated only 25 liters, not enough even for one person to shower, so only one person could have a hot shower. I'm extremely disappointed with Agoda for listing this accommodation. My time in Florence could have been better, but unfortunately this stay spoiled my visit.

The apartment is comfortable and well located, but the problems outweigh that. We weren't told it was on the 3rd floor, up stairs, with the final flight being a spiral staircase. During our stay, the small landings were filled with construction supplies, paint cans, and ladders, making it almost impossible to get luggage through. We also weren't told there'd be an advance cleaning charge of almost 50 euros. It took nearly an hour and a half to receive the check-in link, and only after we complained through the rental provider. The phone number they gave us went unanswered, and our messages got no reply. The service was extremely rude. At check-in, we also had to leave a deposit of more than 100 euros. It took a long time to get it back, and we had to complain repeatedly through the provider before it was refunded. The listing is very misleading. The mattresses and room linens were very poor quality, and it felt like sleeping on the bed frame. A terrible experience, I don't recommend this apartment.
