Hotel Firenze 2000

We stayed three nights and everything was fine. The rooms were tidy and maintained, with daily cleaning and fresh towels. Breakfast was good, and reception was staffed around the clock, which isn't always offered at this price. You can't expect 4- or 5-star options near the center of Florence for this kind of money, so I think that's fair. It seems to me the hotel is working to improve, and I'm satisfied.

The guest I was with wasn't allowed in because she didn't have her original document. She showed a copy and other identification, but the hotel still refused her entry. It was my birthday, and that rule was the worst part of an already negative stay. The room also bore little resemblance to the one shown on the booking site. I expected something spacious and bright with a view, but got a four-bed room with a boarded-up window facing the back yard and the neighboring building's wall. Breakfast was poor, just coffee and a croissant, with no option to order anything else for an extra charge. I felt deceived and dissatisfied with the service. I wouldn't recommend this dormitory to anyone.

The staff were nice, and the bathroom was clean. They emptied our trash and made the beds every day. But the breakfast was always at least 15 minutes late, and although fresh bread arrived, there was nothing else to choose from. The hotel is about a 30-minute walk from the main tourist sights. We were a large student group and rented nearly the whole hotel. Our room was dark, with only two small, hard-to-open windows, and it got very cold at night. The heating worked but was really loud. There was a terrible cigarette smell we couldn't clear, random hairs in the beds, and the beige fabric on the bed frame had lots of cigarette ash and body-fluid marks. All the fabric, including the sheets and towels, was old and in poor condition.

It's quiet and fairly clean, and the staff were helpful. We needed help carrying our luggage up the stairs, and they did it. The room was just OK, small with only one chair, and our bags barely fit. The attractions aren't very close, but the distance is manageable.
