Casamata Matera

I loved having the private terrace, with its lovely view over the citadel. I spent plenty of time unwinding there with possibly one too many bottles of Prosecco, and never got tired of the view. The cave apartment is spacious and nicely decorated, with a huge, very comfortable bed. Restaurants, cafes, and shops are only seconds or a few minutes away on foot. Fabiana was incredibly helpful: she let me leave my heavy luggage when I arrived at 10:30am, then offered an early check-in before 12pm after showing some prospective guests around. That was a huge relief since my original check-in time was 16:00. Being a cave kept the apartment cool through summer, though it sometimes felt a little hot late at night or early in the morning. It wasn’t unbearable, but I’d suggest the owner get a standing fan for hotter months. Having an entire cave home to myself in the heart of Matera was incredible. Many thanks for a wonderful stay!
