il Giramondo Suite&Room

The room was spotless, and the photos are an accurate match for the accommodation. It also had a coffee maker and an electric kettle. The owners were attentive whenever we needed anything, and check-in and access were very easy. Once you arrive, you can park and leave the car there until you go, since parking is two blocks away and all the places to eat are nearby. We enjoyed our time in Matera.

We stayed in the Petra room, with a small living room, bedroom, and very comfortable bathroom. The furnishings are simple but comfortable, and the property itself is tastefully decorated. It’s centrally located and convenient for all transportation. The owner was very kind and did everything she could to make our stay easy. She was worried there might be a water shortage because of a fault, but it never actually happened.

The ladies looking after us were all very kind, though it was several different people. The person answering my email, the one who contacted me on WhatsApp, and the person who welcomed us weren't the same, which led to a few small communication hiccups. Nothing affected our stay, though, and I still recommend the property. It’s a charming, clean room just steps from the center and lots of amenities. There’s a kettle, coffee maker, minibar stocked with water and juice, and a bathroom courtesy kit. Just keep in mind the rooms are on the second floor and there’s no elevator, so luggage or a stroller with little ones could be a challenge.

The staff were really friendly and gave us lots of information about visiting Matera. Our room was spacious and bright, with a sitting area, and it was well furnished. There was a coffee maker and kettle, plus sweet and savory snacks. The location is handy for arriving by car, with parking nearby, including private parking if booked in advance. It's very close to Piazza Vittorio Veneto, where the descent to the Sassi begins. Highly recommended.
