Allegroitalia Espresso Darsena

The staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke good English. There was a game room on the first floor, and breakfast cost 15 Euros per person. We ate elsewhere because we wanted to try the Milan experience. Our room had a nice view of the Cathedral, but it was dirty. Don't look under the bed or up at the curtains. For two adults, the room felt tiny, even though it was booked for four. Getting ready meant climbing around suitcases and a huge bed, which was a queen with a single bed extending on each side. It felt like the whole room was just mattress. The bathroom was small, and the shower was odd: it didn't drain, and the design made it easy to get water all over the floor. If it had been cleaner, and just my wife and me staying, I'd put it around 2.9 to 3.1. As it was, I'd say 2.5 to 2.75. It was incredibly average. My overall impression falls somewhere between 2.5 and 2.9, since a 2 feels too low and a 3 too high.

We had a comfortable, spacious bed and pillows, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The shower was a bit cramped, but the location was great for the canals, shopping and metro. There's a convenience store a two-minute walk away. Breakfast was affordable and yummy. I'd also strongly suggest Zibos, about a four-minute walk away. It had the best food we ate on the whole trip!

The room was the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in. Even getting around the desk chair and other obstacles took some thought, and I had to plan how to turn in the shower so I wouldn't knock the soap dish down. It was fine for one night, but I'd be unhappy staying longer. The hotel itself was clean and well priced, in a quiet residential neighborhood close to the cathedral.

The rooms are basic, but clean and stocked with what you need. Service was very good, and breakfast was above average. It's a nice hotel near Darsena and Navigli, and a very good option for a trip to Milan, especially for younger travelers.
