I came to Rome for a holiday, and to me that means getting some rest. I chose somewhere close to the subway because I was travelling alone and consider myself at higher risk, so I didn’t take the owner up on the offer to move me elsewhere. I’d hoped they would move the person causing the noise instead, but they didn’t. Apparently wanting to sleep was too much to ask. The main problem was how easily sound carried. I could hear people coming back as if they were in my room, and one guest snored so loudly that I woke several times the first night. I knocked on the wall for hours before putting on my white noise headphones. The owner said there were three panels on each side of every room. They should add more or replace the walls. I also heard people in the next room knocking loudly on the snorer’s door both nights. After I said I could hear him from my room, the owner insisted it was well soundproofed. It felt like excuses and like I was being mocked. Even with headphones and white noise turned all the way up, I woke at 4:30 AM on the second night. Impossible to sleep. There were other problems too. The room was supposed to have a double bed, but had a single. It wasn’t bad looking, though a little dirty, and I’ve seen worse. There was no bidet towel or hand soap in the bathroom. The mattress and pillow were hard as marble. The terrace chair was rotten and broken, left out in the weather and covered with a pillow. I nearly hurt myself using it for breakfast the morning after that awful first night. At 50 euros a night, I could have spent less on a hostel dorm and had the same experience. I’m sorry, but I’ll never return. Avoid it if you can.

The location is outside the center but close to the Vatican, with cafes around and the metro nearby. It’s a short walk into the city. The rooms are simple and clean, though a cup and some basic amenities were missing.

There’s no zero-star option, and that’s what this deserves. The room looked nothing like the online photos and was extremely dirty. The chandelier was broken, the terrace looked awful, and the bathroom was even worse. When we pointed this out, the staff mocked us and made excuses for everything.
