A Casa a Testaccio

The host is kind and congenial, and has been doing this for 26 years. He makes staying in Rome financially accessible, which is a dream come true for many. But the market has changed, and this listing has a shared bathroom, something I hadn't realized and felt very uncomfortable with as a solo female traveler. The pillows smelled as if they were made of unwashed goose feathers. I could clearly hear the other guest and the host moving around, and I'm sure they could hear me too. I had planned to stay seven nights, then five, but after just one night I was so uncomfortable that I found somewhere else. I hadn't checked Google reviews before booking through Airbnb, and now understand the very low price. I requested a full refund for the nights I didn't stay and received 50%. I left in a rush and didn't take a photo of the pillows without their cases, so Airbnb wouldn't give me the full refund. I told the host what I thought, and he said he'd “investigate” the pillows.
