The best thing about this hostel is its location, really close to the Vatican. I stayed four nights, but the rest of the experience was poor. The tap was broken and only gave cold water, and the walls carried every sound. I could hear my neighbor doing things and snoring loudly. The host seemed very strange and watched to see if I turned the lights off. When she came to collect the city tax, she smoked in the room, so I was shocked by the smell of cigarettes. For the same money, I’d look elsewhere. Otherwise, it can feel like you’re living under the watch of an Italian family, as if you’re staying there for free.

The bathroom was nice, and having a shared kitchen was a good extra, though we didn’t use it. The room and bed were just okay. It’s a decent B&B near the Vatican.

You can walk into Rome’s centre from here, and it’s about 300 yards from the Vatican museum. The place was really nice, and breakfast was self-service.

The location is truly excellent, but that’s the only reason I’d consider staying here. My room was tiny and very dark, with a small window facing an inner courtyard. The heat pump wasn’t working, or at least I couldn’t tell that it was, despite the owner saying everything was new. I was freezing even with the extra blanket, and after two nights I came down with a cold and sore throat. The room was damp, the coffee pod machine was dusty and didn’t work, and other parts of the room also made me question the hygiene. The bathroom was so small that showering wasn’t easy or pleasant. Check-in was remote, so I never met the owner, yet I was charged extra for arriving at 9:30 pm. The service certainly didn’t justify extra charges, and I don’t recommend the place. I’ll spare you Mrs. Anna’s further message and insults after I criticized her “wonderful” B&B. Her response focused on comments I found irrelevant and untrue. I’d also pay attention to the extra fees she asks for. I’m often in a rush and don’t have much time to sort out these things, but according to her reply on booking, the late check-in fee was due only for arrivals after 10 pm. She had mentioned it in a WhatsApp message that afternoon, which I didn’t think much about because I was distracted and acting in good faith. Then she improperly asked me for €20, even though my train was late and I reached the property at 9:30 pm. I have the messages on both booking and WhatsApp as proof.
