Hotel Adriatic

The hotel was clean, but there were a few issues. Water going down any of the drains made a slow bubbling sound, as if air was coming back up the pipes, and there was a slight bad smell. The shower caulk was quite moldy, which didn't inspire confidence. WiFi in our room was very unreliable. The AC also didn't work until temperatures fell well below 55 F.

The location was very good, close to the Vatican and within walking distance of the main attractions. Our quadruple room was a little cramped, but it worked for four adults and was clean. The cleaning lady changed the towels and sheets when we asked. At night, street noise from the bars, restaurants, and workers cleaning the bins on the corner was a problem. The hotel also feels old. Still, it was a nice stay, and Sabrina deserves a special mention for being so sweet.

The room was very good, and the location was great. The woman who checked us in and out was helpful and smart. I'd definitely recommend their rooftop terrace.

Hotel Adriatic was a pleasant surprise for a two-star place, and I'd recommend it to travelers on a budget. The shaded patio on the fourth floor is a nice spot for brunch and a little energy before heading out in the evening. Rooms are clean and suit tourists who mainly need a shower and a good night's sleep, though the thin walls mean light sleepers should bring earplugs. The Vatican is just steps away, and the river is three streets over. A Carrefour with wine, pastries, toiletries, and fresh fruit and vegetables is one street away and stays open until 11pm. A/C costs 10 Euros per night, and you'll need to check in before 10pm since there's no self check-in. I got back from my four-day Rome stay just recently.
