They knew there were two of us, but somehow added another bed and made up the pull-out couch, leaving almost no room in the unit. Both chairs were broken. The key card only worked for the lights and air when it felt like it. The bed had all the treats on it, and my sheets had clear eyeliner marks from fake lashes. The bathroom grout was moldy. A bathroom light broke, and they removed the light on the other side to match. The walls were covered in scuffs and red stuff from someone's body. The shower drained across the floor and flooded the whole entrance. Nobody came to look at it, let alone fix it. The guy who checked us in was rude, annoyed, and irritated. Not one person working here seemed to care about anything. Change “boutique” to “hostel,” and I'm not kidding. You feel dirty here. I won't flood my phone with all the photos, you get it. Oh, and checkout is cash only. What a joke.

I felt completely safe traveling alone, and my room faced the opposite side of the building, so noise wasn't a problem. The front doors are locked at night, so you have to ring the bell to get in. Breakfast was simple but good, with eggs, cold cuts, bread, croissants, and pastries. It fills up fast, so arrive early if you want a seat. The location is the main draw. Boutique Hotel Trevi is right by the Trevi Fountain, roughly 10 minutes on foot from the Spanish Steps and about 20 from the Colosseum. The Vatican is a quick Uber ride away, or about a 40-minute walk along the Tiber, with a stop at Castel Sant’Angelo on the way. Taxis and Ubers leave you nearby rather than at the door, usually about a two-minute walk away, which seems normal for this area. It's listed as a four-star hotel, but don't expect a typical four-star stay. My single room was a little dated but comfortable, and I had no plumbing trouble. The bed was firm. The room got warm, and the AC didn't cool it as much as I expected, so I wouldn't recommend it for summer. I left the balcony open to cool things down. There were only two outlets, so bring an Italian plug adapter. My universal diffuser fit the hairdryer, though it shut off when it overheated and still worked. The room key needs to stay in its slot for the electricity. The minibar had still and sparkling water, beer, sodas, and juices. WiFi was fine, but the safe didn't work, so I locked my suitcase instead and had no issues. The city tax was €7.50 per person per night, paid at checkout. I stayed three nights. I'd recommend it for the location and sense of safety, especially if traveling alone, as long as you know it's about convenience and charm more than luxury.

We had a confirmed, fully paid booking at Boutique Hotel Trevi, chosen specifically for its central location near Trevi Fountain. When we arrived to check in, they told us we couldn't stay because of an “electrical issue,” but gave our room to a group and sent us somewhere else. The replacement hotel was nowhere near comparable. It was about 20-30 minutes from the center, much farther from the location we'd chosen, and the room felt neglected, dusty, old, and poorly maintained. We would never have picked it ourselves. Its nightly price was clearly lower than what we paid for Boutique Hotel Trevi, but we weren't given a free stay or a refund for the night or even the price difference. Being forced to stay in a cheaper, much worse hotel in another location ruined part of our short visit to Rome. It caused stress, wasted our time, and meant packing and moving again the next day. In my view, if a hotel can't provide a room that was booked and paid for, it should arrange somewhere equivalent or better and refund any difference. That didn't happen, and it was an unfair way to treat guests. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. A confirmed reservation doesn't guarantee you'll actually stay there, and if you're sent elsewhere, don't expect them to take proper responsibility.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good. The location is great, too. But the hotel and room are very dated, and the bathroom was a disaster. I don't know who gave this place four stars. It's definitely below three.

You're mostly paying for the location here. The place was alright, nothing special compared with other places I've stayed. Breakfast was good, with nice pastries and a choice of fresh produce. The bathroom was moldy in the tile cracks, and the water pressure was basically nonexistent, though at least the water was hot. They didn't empty the bathroom bins during my stay or restock sanitary bags for women's needs or toilet paper, so we had to keep asking. WiFi barely worked, so be ready to use mobile data. The bed was very hard, though I hear that's normal in Italy. There were also bedbugs or mites in the beds. The fridge was tiny and packed with their own products, so I could only fit two water bottles.
