City Lights Rome

The only good thing was the service. Agnes was a nice woman who welcomed us and was the only person we met during our five-day stay. She kept the place welcoming and as clean as she could. The breakfast wasn't served in the hotel, but at a cozy café on the next block. It was just a coffee or tea, a croissant, and a few cupcakes. The hotel advertised a “central rome location,” which was one of the reasons we chose it, but the actual “central rome” was about an hour's walk away. Our bathroom was separate from the bedroom, so we had to go through the hallway to reach it. It smelled strongly of sewer, and we had to air it out for 20-30 minutes before we could stay in there. By the second day, even our toothbrush and toothpaste smelled like sewer. The bedroom walls had several scratches and a hole in the roof. The floor rugs were dirty, and the mini-fridge smelled moldy, with a big scratch on top and a hole inside. There was no reception, just the woman who greeted us and came by when rooms needed cleaning. The place was really a five-bedroom apartment: one room for staff, three for guests, and one bathroom. Our balcony was connected to the neighboring guest room's balcony, so they could look through our window if they wanted. Luckily, we were the only guests for all five days. Several websites gave this place four stars, which I can't understand. It didn't match the quality shown in the photos and barely lived up to the features it advertised. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, if you can even call it one.
