Colosseum Garden

We loved the neighbourhood, even as a straight couple. Retrome is in the gay quarter, with a few bars to choose from, and the Colosseum just outside is beautiful both day and night. Our room was comfortable, and the smart TV was a real help after a long day since we could put something on in English. It was the only place we stayed in Italy where we could do that, though we did end up watching Italian TV too. Friendly staff, a comfortable room, and all the amenities, in a great location.

The only snag was that the hot water stopped working. The staff stayed in touch while trying to sort it out, and it was fixed by the next business day. They also gave us restaurant tips about places to try and places to skip, which saved us time and money. The retro-styled hotel lobby was a treat, and they offered free espresso while we checked in. The location was perfect, close to the Coliseum. The apartment kitchen had what we needed, including a corkscrew, wine glasses, salt, and oil. I’d recommend staying here.

The rooms were clean and airy, and the area around the Colosseum has a great location with good restaurants nearby. I wasn’t keen on having to pay for check-in outside their hours, and some staff were friendly while others weren’t. Otherwise, it’s an average but nice place to stay on a budget.

A small, quiet room at a good rate, in a good location. WiFi was quick and easy to connect to, and the basic furnishings worked fine. The reception staff seemed a bit disorganized. Things were so informal that checking in and out took longer than it should have.
