GP Hotel

Such a bad experience. The rooms are cramped and smaller than a hostel's, and breakfast is limited. There are mostly desserts, while the main course is just bread. It's first come, first served, with only the first 30 people getting food; after that it runs out, with no backup. Staff don't listen, and only one person speaks English. Tourists from other countries shouldn't have to deal with this.

My visit to a GP hotel in Rome was a real letdown. I'd seen the rate on Booking.com and other sites, but when I asked, they quoted me €100 more. The receptionist was rude and dismissive when I asked why, then claimed no rooms were available. That felt completely unprofessional and disrespectful. This kind of treatment makes the whole experience unpleasant and unacceptable, so I'd tell others to be cautious.

The aircon was broken, and the room was cold. Since it was winter and I come from a tropical country, I needed a heater. On the first night I went down to the lobby, and they said they'd fix the heater for the towel and that the aircon temperature could be raised to 28. Nothing had changed by the second night. After a long day of walking, moving rooms felt like too much, so my friend and I slept in our jackets. Very disappointing.

Lorenzo at reception helped us a lot with detailed directions around Rome, which saved us time and made planning our days easier. We had a small misunderstanding at first, but talking it through sorted it out. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful, and we enjoyed our two-day stay. We only had a two-day layover, which isn't enough to get the full benefit of Rome, but we explored a bit. Driving from the hotel to the city centre took about 25-28 minutes. Parking in the centre can be difficult. If you rent a small car for town, it's easier to park, and full insurance is worth it since the city is busy all the time and the car might get scratched or have small dents. Thanks to the GP Team for having us. We'll come again when we're in Rome.
