Hotel Desiderio

The rooms were old and the cleaning was poor. I gave it one star only because it's close to Gemelli Hospital.

It's a clean, newly built hotel, though a little far from the metro. If you're driving, paid parking is available.

Paid parking at the hotel was handy. The location also worked well for getting to the Catholic University, Gemelli Hospital, and the train station, with its various attractions.

I couldn't even bring myself to shower there, and spent the night cold under a dusty bedspread. I had booked two nights only because the B&B I usually use was fully booked. At check-in, a very polite man at reception showed me to my room. I took one look at how dirty it was and went straight back to ask for another. I hoped it was just a missed cleaning, but he looked embarrassed and kindly showed me two more rooms. None was good, so I picked the least bad of the three. I still wasn't sure I could stay, so I went out to dinner and tried to find somewhere else. Everything was either booked or too far from the hospital. Fortunately, my usual B&B had a cancellation for the following day. When I returned, I couldn't get myself to use the shower and just went to bed, freezing and unable to get warm under the dusty cover. In the morning I asked to speak with a manager. The new receptionist was friendly and professional, but said no one was available and offered a 30% discount on the room. I had an appointment at Gemelli hospital at 10 and no time to call the person in charge, so I ate breakfast, sticking to packaged food. I thanked the woman serving breakfast too, she was very polite, then left. I feel for the staff who have to work there, but the hotel should be shut down immediately. I'm attaching pictures of all three rooms. It doesn't deserve even half a star.
