Hotel Luzzatti Rome

I booked this because it was the cheapest option, and once I arrived, I understood why. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but the building was in about the worst condition I saw in Rome. When I left my luggage for storage, they put it in a pile in the lobby with other bags, where someone could easily go through it. Bathrooms and other facilities were in poor shape and quite moldy. The bedding smelled unwashed, and one side of my pillow had dried blood on it. I'd stay again to save money, but be aware that paying an extra 15-20€ to go elsewhere might be worth it.

There are no locks on any doors, the wifi doesn't work, and it's easy to see why the place has so many one-star reviews. It was absolutely disgusting. The shower head wouldn't screw on properly, so turning on the water made it fly off and spray water straight up at the ceiling from the hose. The beds had comforters but no sheets. Towels aren't included; you have to pay 5€ to rent one. The room for three had only one nightstand, and nowhere to hang or put anything except the floor. It also didn't feel secure. A chair inside the front door was the only thing keeping strangers or robbers out. One night I got back around 11:30 PM, moved the chair, walked past the front desk worker asleep on a lobby couch, and went straight to my room. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The owner choked me and kicked me out when I tried to negotiate. It's the worst hostel or living situation I've ever experienced. There was no wifi, the sink soap was body wash, and there was no charging port by my bunk. People talked on the phone all night until 4 AM, which was really annoying. The owner shouldn't be running this terrible place.

The convenient location made it easy to get around Rome, with transport nearby. I had a nice stay at Villa Luzzatti Hostel, where the atmosphere felt relaxed and friendly, so it was easy to meet other travelers. Special thanks to Amel on the staff for being so kind and helpful. It made a real difference. A good option for travelers looking for a simple, social stay in Rome.
