Hotel Select

Our booking was cheap, so we weren’t expecting anything lavish, and this is really just a place to stay. The decor could use a revamp: the wallpaper was peeling, the lampshades were stained, and there was a big dip or hole in the floor under the carpet beside one side of the bed. That felt a little unsettling. The staff welcomed us and kept our bags before check-in and after. The street wasn’t too loud, and the station is nearby, with good restaurants about a 10-minute walk away. Breakfast was included and straightforward, with three cereals, bread, fresh cake, baked goods, yogurts, hard-boiled eggs, cold meats, coffee, and concentrated orange or pineapple juice. There’s a sweet terrace outside for breakfast. We didn’t have other meals there, so I’m not sure if they serve them.

There was a strange smell throughout the hotel, and the beds were so hard it felt like sleeping on a plank. The carpet was dirty and damaged, and the wallpaper was too. The mini fridge and TV didn’t work. It’s in a central area, though not the nicest neighborhood, and the hotel itself feels very dated. I’d avoid it.

The staff were really friendly, helpful, and attentive to requests and concerns. We had peace and quiet in the evenings, while still being close enough to reach the city highlights. It’s also conveniently near the main train station, so getting around is easy. We enjoyed the stay very much. Thanks for a great one!

The location is close to the metro and Termini station, and the staff were nice. Still, I would never stay here again. The rooms are incredibly tiny, even by European standards. There was barely space for a queen bed and two small nightstands, and nothing else. The bathroom was even tighter, with the door hitting the toilet when opened. The mattress felt like it was made of rocks. We had only boiling hot water in our room, with no cold water at all. We reported it twice and were told it would be fixed, but it never was. Trying to shower in literally boiling water when it’s 110 degrees outside was miserable. The toilet tank also took about 15 minutes to refill, dripping slowly and loudly. The rooms aren’t soundproof, with folding doors instead of real ones, and we could hear someone in the next room snoring as if they were in ours. And breakfast...ugh.
