La Casa di Fabio

The owner was lovely, and we were very comfortable in this spacious, clean apartment. It's really close to the Vatican. We'll be back, thank you, Laura.

I slept exceptionally well here. It's a simple, welcoming place in a very quiet area, about a 20-minute walk from the Vatican. The hostess was kind and friendly, and left breakfast on the table.

The breakfast provisions were a real plus: good automatic coffee with capsules, tea, chamomile, biscuits, jams, plum cakes and marmalade. The flat itself could use a few more bowls and shelves, plus a light by the bathroom mirror. The telescopic curtain rods also need replacing, as their springs have failed and they keep getting stuck. For sightseeing, it's a decent option overall, though it's at the southern edge of Piazzale Clodio and a long way from a Metro station. Bus 70 from the Giulio Cesare/Ottaviano stop goes to Piazzale Clodio and links with line A, which serves Piazza del Popolo, Piazza di Spagna (Condotti, Frattina, and Corso streets), Piazza Berberini (Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, etc.), and Termini Station. That stop is also handy for the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica. Bus 23, which also ends at Piazzale Clodio, is an easy route to and from Trastevere, while bus 69 and others go from Clodio to the Foro Italico area. All in all, it works out well.
