Le Fate Suites

The first night, we found a large cockroach in our room. That alone made this the worst hotel or B&B I have stayed in across my three trips to Italy, but Fabrizio's response made the experience even worse. We called as soon as we spotted it, and he said he could only neutralize the bug, which sounded like he wouldn't offer a refund. When he arrived, he suggested we had made it up and started to leave. We planned to leave that night, but when I asked again for a refund, he claimed he couldn't issue one because he hadn't received the payment. Expedia told me the next day that he could issue it. He said we could “do as [we] please” and gave no help finding somewhere else, even though it was 12:30 AM in Rome. A fully booked hotel we went to afterward was more helpful and tried to find us another place. I messaged Fabrizio the next day to confirm we had left that night because of the cockroach, but he ignored me and Expedia's later messages. There were other problems too. The room was filthy, the air conditioning barely worked during Europe's heat wave, and breakfast was just cheap, packaged grocery-store pastries that weren't even fresh. The B&B is tiny, basically three units in an apartment, so the shared area felt cramped and running into other guests was awkward. Most B&Bs occupy a whole or half floor with around 10 units. If you're looking to avoid cockroaches, poor customer service, and a complete lack of professionalism, stay far away from this B&B and its other property.
