The staff were so welcoming and helpful, and Matteo had left food tips in our room that turned out to be delicious. We found the hotel cozy and really well placed for sightseeing, with both the Colosseum and Vatican City about a 20-minute walk away. The one hiccup was finding the entrance. When our taxi first dropped us off, we wondered if we were in the wrong place. There’s a small sign beside the door, but it’s easy to overlook.

The rooftop was such a lovely place to spend sunset. The young woman serving drinks made us excellent Bellinis, and the clean furniture, music, and relaxed atmosphere made it really enjoyable. We also loved how charming the old building felt, complete with an old-fashioned elevator, and the location made it easy to walk almost everywhere we wanted. Matteo and the young woman who helped us during the stay were both very kind. Our beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless, the cleanest toilet I’ve ever seen. We’d absolutely come back to Rome and stay here again.

We started our Italian trip with three nights at the Navona Queen, and the staff set a high standard from arrival through checkout. The room was surprisingly spacious, clean, and comfortable, and we had everything we needed. Since we had an early tour the next morning, they left breakfast in our room. The rooftop breakfast is delicious too, with a beautiful view, so don’t miss it if you can. We also enjoyed stopping at the rooftop bar each evening before dinner. They put out snacks and play fun music that gets you in the mood for a night in Rome. Matteo and the whole team were wonderful. Grazie for such a memorable stay with my family!

The place was clean, and Saint Peter’s Basilica is only a short walk away. A great location and a lovely host.

I booked Navona suites through Hotels.com at 23:30 for one night, expecting to arrive later that night. It looked appealing and was listed as a Hotels.com VIP property with benefits for gold members. I hadn’t realized the reception and services were only available for limited hours. The booking page did contain the details, including that reservations had to be made at least 48 hours before check-in and that reception closed at 23:30. I travel more than 200 days a year, so I’m not inexperienced with bookings. When I got there at 2:00 in the morning, the door was locked and nobody answered the service phone. Hotels.com couldn’t reach Navona suites either. They later learned reception was closed and told me I’d need to find somewhere else for the night. They were helpful and apologetic, and said they would request a refund for the inconvenience. The next day, Hotels.com said they had tried several times to get the refund approved, but the manager of Navona Suites refused and they couldn’t override that decision. I believe a property should get a chance to resolve an issue before I leave a negative review, so I contacted the manager directly. He didn’t cooperate. He said I should contact Hotels.com about the refund, even though he was the one preventing them from processing it. He also said they hadn’t received any calls, which seems unnecessary to claim when digital records are tracked and logged in 2025. He pointed to the cancellation policy, but my issue was that the booking had been made too late to be valid. The room wasn’t provided, and the company didn’t lose a payable night. The owner offered me a discount if I visited Rome again, then blocked my email from further contact. I based my claim on the ethical and legal principle that a service not received for the reasons described shouldn’t be charged. After my unsuccessful exchange with the manager, I contacted my credit card company, AMEX. They reviewed the messages and case details and issued a full refund in less than 24 hours. If someone left valuables at the property, would they say they’d never been found, or claim the guest’s mistake made them the property’s? That’s a rhetorical question.
