We enjoyed our stay overall, and the view is amazing. The balcony is spacious, and I'd suggest having coffee or breakfast out there. There's a market nearby worth checking out for vegetables, bread, cheese, or meats. They're absolutely delicious and good value. The room looks really nice at first, but once you're settled in, you notice some things. A few mugs weren't clean, with old coffee stains that took a few minutes to remove. The bathroom was the biggest issue: the ceiling looks as if it's falling apart, and the shower is raised about 30 cm off the floor. Its doors only open halfway, making it uncomfortable. Hopefully they'll start working on the bathroom.

The pool came with an extra 15 E Dollar charge per person per day, and umbrellas and loungers cost extra on top of that. That wasn't what the website indicated. The room looked great at first, but closer inspection changed that. It was spacious, with a separate bedroom containing a bed, a small air conditioning unit, and nothing else. The living room had no aircon, just a very small TV and some furniture. There was no jug, cups, coffee, tea, or even a teaspoon. Reception supplied an electric jug and two tiny plastic cups for 10E, but still no tea or coffee.

We returned to our car on the first day and found its window smashed and items worth €600 missing from the trunk. It had been parked in the hotel's lot between 4 PM and 11 PM, and reception had confirmed the parking was safe. When we told the staff what had happened, they seemed oddly unsurprised. The receptionist did call the police and was kind and empathetic, probably the only person at the hotel who showed concern. Since the police don't respond after 10 PM, we had to wait until morning and go to the station ourselves. The following day, another hotel employee told us incidents like this are common in their parking lot. Why claim it's secure and not warn guests against parking there? The management and staff need to understand what secure means and stop misleading guests about the lot's safety. The manager never addressed the incident with us, which was a huge disgrace. A few days after we left, we emailed the manager asking for a refund for two nights as compensation and got no response. There's no need to go into the poor condition of the hotel, rooms, and staff after this ordeal. If you value your peace of mind, your vehicle, and your good mood, avoid this hotel at all costs. If I could give it zero, I would. For anyone traveling by car, I strongly advise steering clear. The lot had appeared safe to us, and reception had confirmed it was.

There was mold, and my daughter kept coughing. The pool looked like skin soup, it was very dirty, and the service was poor. Construction was going on constantly and kept waking us up. Breakfast was okay, but not great. They left a clothing dryer rack for us after we dried laundry on the balcony, maybe as a subtle hint, but I appreciated it. For the price, I suppose it wasn't bad. Still, I wouldn't stay here again.

The owner is wonderful and friendly, but I think the reception staff need some guidance on how to treat guests. The grounds and gardens are very impressive. The rooms are a little dated, though kept extremely clean. For the price, it's a bargain and certainly the best hotel I've stayed in for the money. The new bar should add some glamour to this large victorian era hotel. It's currently waiting for a license from the immensely bureaucratic planning department, but it's a really wonderful addition. I can imagine the owner has great plans, and I wish him success with the project.
