Quality Inn Rome

We booked the guesthouse through booking, but never got a password for the main door. We waited around 15 minutes until another person came and let us in. The room was spacious, though there was a smell of humidity. The building’s elevator is very old, and some visitors got stuck in it on our first day.

The location is very central, and that’s about all I can say for it. At these prices, the place felt like a hostel. If cleanliness matters to you, I do NOT recommend "Quality in Rome". The name is a joke. The photos on booking and elsewhere are obviously very old, probably from when it opened. The furniture was old and dusty, the walls were stained, and the bathroom was dirty. There were stains on and under the toilet seat, and limescale all over the shower and sink. It was clear the rooms hadn’t had a proper clean in a very long time. I was disgusted enough to wipe the toilet seat myself with wet cleaning wipes. The old pillows smelled bad, and under the pillowcase I could see yellow sweat marks. Between guests, it seemed they only vacuumed and dry-wiped the surfaces. Ridiculous. Offering rooms in this condition to paying customers under the name "Quality in Rome - luxury guest house" is brazen. It’s more like a youth hostel and a rip-off. I really wonder how the positive recommendations were collected. Believe the negative ones. And I’m not picky: I expect proper cleanliness and standard comfort. After I left an honest, professional review on booking that was still much milder than the truth, his response was unprofessional and emotional, and ended up rude. So here’s my detailed review.

The service was absolutely nice, and I’d probably pick this guest house again when I visit Rome. It’s right in the center, so you can walk to everything if you’re ready for a lot of walking. The bus stop is just a few meters away, and there’s a pizzeria down the block. We did have a bed-sheet issue, but once we pointed it out, the maid’s mistake was fixed straight away. I thought the price was fair for a clean, well-decorated room. Definitely recommend.

We expected more from 'Quality In Rome', but were really disappointed by what we found. The place is close to the main tourist spots, yet the worn towels and bedding made it hard to see the quality in the name. The towels were very thin and had small holes, while one pillowcase had seams coming apart. In my humble opinion, the hotel’s name doesn’t reflect the standard we encountered.
