The apartment was tidy and well located, and about the same standard as many places in central Rome, though a few small things were broken or missing. There are lots of restaurants around, making it easy to eat out, and Rome’s historic sights are within walking distance. The Spanish Steps are just a few minutes away. The host was easy to reach and arranged a car to collect us from the airport.

Be careful about check-in. If you arrive outside the 2 to 5 PM window, your whole reservation will be cancelled without a refund. He also refused to change our check-in date for no reason. He offered to arrange later key collection in advance for €200, payable only by PayPal. We didn’t pay, but I suspect we might not have received the keys if we had, since PayPal payments are impossible for authorities to trace. Scammer.

This lovely ground-floor apartment is very close to the Spanish Steps and has everything you need. I held back the fifth star because the shower area was less pleasant, with mold building up in the gaps between the mosaic tiles.

The host is dishonest. He cancelled my booking through booking.com so he could keep the full reservation amount, and he doesn’t answer the phone. There are lots of complaints about him on Google and Trip. Be careful, don’t fall for it.
