Relais Donna Lucrezia Suites

The location is good, and we'll definitely return next time we're in Rome. We stayed three nights in February and were impressed by the hotel's quality and how attentive Nelson and Lucrezia were. The quirky elevator up to the second floor was fun, and there were lots of thoughtful touches in the room and around the hotel.

The room was huge, with a private balcony, and the amenities went well beyond what I expected: shampoo and conditioner, cotton swabs, and coffee in the room. Body lotion would be a nice addition. The price was excellent, and we could easily walk to everything we wanted to do. Breakfast had plenty of variety, but the advertised happy hour didn't happen on the weeknight we were there. One caution: rooms facing via Emilia get a lot of street noise all night, and the curtains didn't block much of the street lighting. Keep that in mind if you're sensitive to light or noise.

Enrica and Nelson made our stay wonderful. The room was immaculate every day, and breakfast was fresh, delicious, and had lots of choices. There were coffee and pastries all day, plus wine and other drinks available anytime on the honor system. The location is close to plenty of restaurants and the subway, and it's easy to walk everywhere. We loved the people, the room, and the area. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Donna Lucrezia and Nelson do a great job running this two-story relais out of her family mansion. It's clean, and both floors have lovely open dining areas for guests, along with nice snacks. Breakfast was very nice, though the seating arrangements felt a bit bossy and seemed to suit their needs. You have to make your own dinner reservations. The rooms are spacious but sparsely furnished, not as bright as the photos suggest, and the bathrooms and amenities are basic. The towels are thin. At night, loud music from the hotel roof bars and crashing garbage collection at 2-3 a.m. made it noisy. It seems best suited to young families and newlyweds.
