The only real plus was being near a metro station and a grocery store that stayed open 24/7. Otherwise, this was the worst stay I’ve had since coming to Rome. When we moved in, the pillows were yellowish and covered in large sweat marks. They had duvets from their hostel days but wouldn’t give us one, citing COVID rules, which I don’t believe. The shared bathroom smelled awful, and the odor spread through the common areas, kitchen, corridor, and sometimes into our room. The fridge rim was moldy and we had to clean it ourselves. The kitchen had cutlery, but the knives were so dull cooking was difficult, and the stove was small. They didn’t clean properly between tenants, either. There were frequent clogging problems, the water had strange white stuff in it, the TV didn’t work, and the Wi-Fi connection was problematic. The card-style door key was annoying, and we got only one room key. When its reader stopped working, I waited three hours for someone to come fix it. Electricity costs were said to be included when we arrived, though the rent was already almost €300 above others in the area. January was very cold, and we used the heater moderately. In February the manager said we’d used too much energy and threatened a fine, despite two other occupied rooms. He also removed the heater controller from the common area. People who had shared the house told us they had deposit problems, and he didn’t return the full amount to us either, deducting extra charges that weren’t mentioned. The room’s full price wasn’t written in the contract, which I suspect was to avoid income tax.
