Ripetta Harbour Suite

The location was perfect, and we were able to check in early. The atmosphere was nice, the service excellent, and the rooms surprisingly big. Loved it.

I can only give it two stars.

The room was clean, there was a free minibar, and breakfast came with the stay at the restaurant across the street. Even so, I wouldn’t come back. The place didn’t give me any confidence, and I felt completely cheated, to the point that I considered legal action. Booking.com even contacted us after the property told them we hadn’t shown up. Unbelievable. We’d booked based on the good reviews, without free cancellation, and they charged us twice despite our having paid in full back in October. We raised the double charge repeatedly in the days before arrival, then kept complaining every day during the stay and by email. The owner didn’t seem to be doing anything about it, so we also filed a complaint through Booking.com to get them involved. In the end, only part of the charge was refunded, with the tourist tax withheld, and nobody asked us how we wanted to pay. The place felt clandestine and completely disorganized. It isn’t a hotel, just a building with lots of stairs and a few rooms. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy.

The only real drawbacks are the stairs up to the apartment and the unattractive entrance. Otherwise it’s a very good option, with an unbeatable spot just steps from Piazza del Popolo. The room was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom very good, and the staff really friendly. They clean the room every day even though this isn’t a hotel. An excellent breakfast buffet at the restaurant across the street is included.
