Star of Rome

The people were somewhat nice, but the rooms need significant improvements before guests are let in. This was one of the worst hotel stays we’ve had. We had to ask for another room after one bed fell apart, and they moved other people into it as soon as we left. There was mold on the walls, some were dirty, and half the appliances were incomplete or didn’t work. The flush and hairdryer were broken, and there were filthy blankets in the wardrobe. The breakfast was honestly an insult; you can get something much better at a nearby cafe.

The rooms were absolutely clean, and the beds were made when we came back each day during our three-night stay. The place itself was very nice, but the way guests were treated bothered us. Nobody showed us where the reception was in case we had questions or where breakfast was served. They should put more effort into guest relations.

The Vatican is about a 20-minute walk away, and there are good restaurants nearby. You can also get there in a few minutes by bus. The balcony was nice and the AC worked great, but some lights and the bathroom fan were out. The queen bed was two singles pushed together, and they gradually slid apart while we slept. It was an okay stay, though those issues could have been avoided.

After I was robbed at the Colosseum, I had no passport, credit cards, or cash, and felt alone in a foreign country. I booked this place at the last minute because it was near the Philippine Embassy, where I needed to sort out paperwork. Nikko at reception was kind and helped me with cash in exchange for a bank transfer. He also explained where I needed to go and offered to print some documents. The owner, Michele, welcomed me too, and Ms. Coleta, who prepared breakfast, was very kind and comforting. Thank you, Star of Rome.
