Taormina

The location was convenient, about a 10-minute walk from Rome Central Train Station (Termini) and 7 minutes from the metro. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and supermarkets nearby. The neighborhood isn't the prettiest part of Rome, but we never felt unsafe. My wife and I slept well in a surprisingly quiet room. The bed was excellent and the shower was good. The staff were very helpful and explained things clearly, and they stored our luggage for free before check-in and after check-out.

The €5 AC charge was well worth it in the summer heat. Just know you'll need to climb a flight or two of stairs. There's a guest lounge and a vending machine, the hotel is walkable from Roma Termini Station, and there's a pharmacy next door. Across the street is a lovely park, with a cute shopping area nearby and mosaic floors. The staff were super friendly, the rooms immaculate, and you can walk to the sights. I don't know how this place got bad reviews. Trust me, it's one of the good places to stay.

The rooms are spacious and very clean, the staff are nice, and having a mini-fridge was useful. I wish there were a kettle and a few drink sachets in the room, instead of having to use the machine at reception. A microwave in the lounge might help too. There are no lifts, just stairs and long corridors, so this won't suit anyone with mobility issues. The area feels a bit rough in the evening. In the daytime it's fine, but after the shops close, homeless people shelter under the arches. They didn't bother or harass us, though families with young children may want to avoid it.

The rooms were spotless and everything worked as it should. Lots of nice restaurants and places to drink are close by, and the Colosseum is only a 10-15 minute walk away. Great hotel, no complaints!
