We paid the same as for apartments on the upper floors, which have proper windows and views, but this one faced the garbage room. The location, right in the heart of Trastevere, was the only good part. Maybe a place upstairs would have made for a very different stay, but we left with sore throats and had an awful time. I absolutely wouldn't recommend it. It felt like a room of horrors. The apartment is on a mezzanine beside the building entrance, directly opposite the garbage room. From 6:00 AM onward, neighbors dumping glass and the cleaner sweeping and mopping made it impossible to rest. The main door kept banging as it opened and closed, day and night. Both windows, one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom, faced a filthy inner courtyard with a depressing view. The bedroom smelled of damp and had stains on the walls. We took photos of the stains and the view. Everything felt dirty, damp, and badly maintained, and the bathroom was damp too. The shower barely put out any water and didn't work properly. Our stay was frankly terrible. If you know the Spanish TV series "Aquí no hay quien viva" (No One Lives Here), the apartment brought to mind "Emilio's Hovel."

I'm sharing this so anyone considering a stay here knows what to expect. What we found bore no resemblance to the photos from the reservation. Calling it an apartment is a stretch, it was a room by the building's entrance, beside the garbage bins, and noise started around 6:00 AM. It was dirty and damp, the shower was faulty and leaked everywhere, and both windows looked out onto a dark, dirty, damp room.
