We got a lovely, friendly welcome and were even able to check in early. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and traffic noise wasn’t too bad. It’s near a bus stop and within walking distance of the Colosseum. We’d stay again.

We were charged an extra €50 per night in cash after already paying for the room, supposedly as a city tax because the property is close to the Roman Forum. There was no reception or clear check-in guidance to begin with. I checked with the hotel next door, a 4-5 star place compared with this 2-3 star property, and they said their charge was $5 per person per night and called this an obvious scam. That extra fee was 50% of our nightly room cost. Then the attendant sent threatening texts demanding my passport copy, even though I’d already sent it twice, and said she’d called the police on us. Completely unprofessional. As other reviews mention, there’s no reception and check-in seems to be a recurring problem. Nobody wants to deal with this when arriving at a property. On top of that, there was fresh blood on the pillowcase when we went to bed. Disgusting. The next day they entered despite our privacy sign and turned the heat all the way up, so the room was miserable when we got back. They’d been in to “service” the room, but left us without toilet paper. When I messaged to say we were out and there was no extra roll, the attendant said there was nothing she could do. What kind of hotel is this? I absolutely don’t recommend it. This place is a joke, and there are better properties in the same area without the deception, threats and incompetence. Go somewhere else.

The place was very clean, but there’s no reception. I stood outside in the cold for 55 minutes before I noticed a small sign with the room name and a number to call. They really need a lit sign on the street. The mattresses also need replacing, they’re so hard to sleep on.

The room had slippers, shower caps and a few other handy extras, and the location right beside the Colosseum is excellent, with a convenient café downstairs. But the host asked me not to book through Booking.com and to pay her directly. She even removed the listing from the platform and threatened to “expose me on camera” if I didn’t pay her direct. I felt uncomfortable and unsafe. The facilities and location were good, but the management was concerning. I’d only book through an official platform for safety.
