Giuggiulena Villa

We spent our honeymoon here, and it felt magical. The sea is right outside, so we swam every day, and the hotel also made a great base for day trips to towns around Sicily. Everyone was so kind, and the breakfasts were amazing. We loved seeing the moon come up over the waves and watching the sun rise each morning. We’d recommend this place to anyone visiting Sicily, and hope to come back someday.

Once you’re back from shopping or sightseeing, you can go straight into the sea from Giuggiulena’s steps. The hotel is small and family-run, with spacious, comfortable rooms kept to meticulous standards. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the bay is a treat, with local produce and homemade cakes and pastries freshly prepared each day by Claudia, a wonderful chef. Sabrina is fantastic: warm, open, and eager to help you make the most of your stay, with plenty of suggestions for things to do. If you’re after an authentic stay near Ortigia, Giuggiulena is the place I’d urge you to choose. I can’t imagine a better spot in the region.

The room was bright and spacious, with a direct view of the water, and the breakfast was to die for. We swam every day from the steps behind the hotel, then watched the sunrise and sunset from our balcony. In the evenings, we also made good use of the large roof terrace. Claudia and Sabrina were so helpful and welcoming from the moment my mum and I arrived. Everything about our stay at this lovely waterfront B&B felt perfect. We loved it and can’t wait to come back!

Sabrina and Claudia were so lovely. One evening Sabrina drove us into Ortigia, and Claudia gave us recipes for some of the delicious breakfast dishes. The hotel sits right by the water, with steps down to the sea and a rooftop patio, and the breakfast itself was delicious. It’s one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. We’re already planning to return.
