Hotel Villaggio Stromboli

The hotel sits right by the water, with spectacular views, and has a wonderfully welcoming family-run feel. Its slightly maze-like layout and understated, well-kept style fit the island beautifully. Ingrid Bergman filmed a legendary movie here in the 1950s, which gives the place a fascinating history. Stromboli still has its own charm and never feels overcrowded. Add the volcano and the incredibly friendly people, and I can see why I'd want to come back.

The team were wonderful, helpful with everything, and the daily service was lovely. Breakfast was another highlight, with fresh, delicious food and the best coffee ever. Huge thanks to everyone working here. You’re the best! The place itself is spotless, with gorgeous views, beach access, a pool and restaurants nearby. The bed was comfortable, and there was AC, a fridge and a TV. It’s one of the friendliest, most beautiful places I’ve ever been. I’d move in forever if I could. You have to be there to understand it, because words don’t do it justice.

Lunch was very good, and the wait staff were friendly. They know the regional wines and gave us helpful recommendations. The property is really pretty, with separate bungalow-style rooms and a small patio outside each one. I liked how spacious our room was, though the bathroom is in serious need of an update.

The setting is peaceful, with lovely views over Stromboli's volcanic landscape and a private beach of black sand that's a great place to relax. The hotel is near the volcano, making it a handy base for exploring the island. Our room was cozy and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The amenities are simple, but the calm atmosphere and beautiful surroundings made for a memorable, relaxing stay.
