Abbazia Hotel

The bar service was amazing. We were sitting in the garden, and the bartender came out and said he knew I wanted another Prosecco. Such great service. Our room was lovely and really clean, close to the train station but still very quiet. We had the best stay.

We spent three nights at Hotel Abbazia while exploring Venice and were so pleased we chose it for its history and charm. It’s a real gem and excellent value for the money. The room was spacious, very clean, newly and charmingly decorated, and well equipped. It looked over the inner garden and the rest of the Abbey. Breakfast had a huge range of hot dishes, cold cuts, cereal, fruit, pastries, and freshly baked cakes. There were different options each day, which was a nice surprise. The breakfast room had a communal feel, with plenty of chances to meet people and chat. There was also a charming bar and a relaxing lounge area, though we didn’t get to use them because we had so much planned. Everyone on staff was extremely kind and polite, and attentive to the details. A huge thank you to the management and team for a fantastic stay. I hope to come back on a future trip to Venice, and can’t recommend the hotel enough.

The alley, which is really a street in Venice, looks a little rough around the edges, but I felt fine there. I’m from Philly and have worked in the tougher parts of town, so don’t worry. The local church rings its bells at 7:15 and 8:15 in the morning. Also, the bathtub has no shower curtain or mat, so take care getting in and out. There’s an elevator. The breakfast is something to pine for, with lots of choices, including cecheti, little tapas-like bites on bread that are unique to Venice. The rooms and beds are comfy. The place is an old converted monetary with all the expected woodwork and stonework, plus a huge Murano glass collection. I’d stay here again!

The train station is extremely convenient to reach from here. The outside looks bland, but inside there are red velvet hallways and nicely decorated rooms. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner for the shower. The staff were great, especially Bane, who really knows his stuff behind the bar.
