Alberghiera Venezia

The receptionist was kind and kept our luggage when we arrived before check-in. There’s a water taxi nearby, and the hotel is an affordable option if you’re okay with walking: 10-15 minutes from the train station and 45 minutes on foot to Piazza San Marco. The rooms are nice, but sound carries easily from outside and from other guests’ conversations. The bed frame also squeaks every time you move.

For a family of four visiting Venice’s main island, this place works really well. There’s a large bed, a sofa bed, and a kitchen where you can make things like salad or spaghetti with inexpensive ingredients from nearby markets. It’s also relatively close to the train station compared with other hotels. Check-in and checkout hours are somewhat limited because management is strict, but we didn’t find that too inconvenient. Couples or people on a romantic trip may prefer a more luxurious hotel, but for families on the main island, I think this offers the best conditions.

The apartment was very spacious and in a perfect location. Shame we only had two nights there. One extra perk, especially if you’ve been to Venice before, is that there are no steps between the train station and the hotel. Check-in with the very nice gentleman at reception went smoothly, as did checkout. I highly recommend this place.

We were very happy with the clean, comfortable rooms and would choose these lovely self-service apartments again when we return. They’re close to the station but set back from the main canal, which keeps things quiet. There are also some nice restaurants nearby.
