Combo Venezia

Combo Venezia was easily the best hostel I’ve stayed in. The restored convent grounds and courtyard were beautifully done, with peaceful spots to read or have a drink with friends. The breakfast was top class, and even though the coffee machine was seriously overworked, it did an amazing job. There’s a gym, too. The location made getting around simple. The ferry stop for the Alilaguna airport ferry was conveniently close, and most attractions and the Jewish quarter were a short walk away. It was lovely to wander around at night. Having a restaurant and cafe/bars onsite was handy, and reception staff were readily available.

He was very rude when I asked about the rooms, and I found the young bald receptionist pretty intimidating. Still, I did get some useful information from him that I wouldn't have found out otherwise.

We spent a lot of time relaxing in the lovely courtyard, whether having a drink on the couches or eating breakfast there. The staff were warm and welcoming, and there was even a welcome drink at the bar. The hostel itself is in a 12th-century cloister, so the old architecture mixed with a modern feel made the stay special. Our room was simple, stylish, and clean, with a nice canal view depending on its location in the building. We'd happily come back and recommend it.

The layout of the dorm was a pleasant surprise. I was booked in a six-person female dorm, but the group was split across several rooms, with just two people sharing each one. We also had a living area and kitchen of our own. The place was spotless, and housekeeping even mopped the floors every day, something I hadn't seen in a hostel before. The staff were friendly and breakfast had plenty to choose from. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
