Hotel Domus Cavanis Venezia

For the price, I found it a rare deal on the Venice island, with all these facilities. The boat bus is just a two minute walk away and goes all over Venice, and there are some nice restaurants nearby. My room was nice for one person and got cleaned every day. Breakfast was included, with a decent mix of cold and warm European options from 7 am. I wasn't disappointed.

I stayed one night, on 22 Nov 2025. The location is very good, and breakfast was okay, though it was served at Belle Arti hotel. There’s no reception desk here; staff at hotel Belle Arti handle check-in and checkout. The room was run down, and the mattress was hard and sagging. At checkout, the receptionist charged me E7.00 instead of E3.50 and gave me no receipt. At check-in I’d been told the tourist tax would be E3.50 at checkout. The government website says tourist tax is E1-5, depending on the season.

The room was clean and smelled pleasant, and the location made it easy to explore the city. I was disappointed that there was no laundry service, and the mattress wasn't as comfortable as I'd hoped. Keep the windows shut, as I did run into a few mosquitoes. Even with those drawbacks, I felt the stay was worth what I paid. I'd recommend it for the cleanliness, atmosphere and location.

The price was fair, but the hotel's quality was pretty upsetting. The room had a broken light fixture, no toilet seat and black mold on the bathroom walls. The showerhead seemed to have just one setting, with hardly any water pressure. What looked like a queen bed was actually two single mattresses pushed together on one frame, covered by a sheet. The walls were very thin too. For several nights in a row, we heard the neighbors come back and talk for hours at 2 am. Reception was nice, and breakfast was fine, although there could be a wait if you went after 8 am. Both were at the hotel across the street. The location was good overall. I wouldn't stay here again.
