Hotel Il Moro di Venezia

I had the worst hotel stay of my life. The photos don’t match the place, and there was mold on the shower tile and showerhead. The room was too hot and the beds were uncomfortable. The front desk staff were rude when we said we wanted to leave, and they refused a refund at first. We had to email the manager and wait three days for approval. They tried moving us to another room, but its shower was moldy too. The third room smelled of paint and mold, which seemed dangerous to breathe, so we left. I would not stay here.

The only real plus was being close to the train and bus stops. The photos make the place look much better than it does in person. The hallway floors were disgusting, the room lighting was dim, and there were no blinds. We couldn’t leave the window open without letting in lots of mosquitoes. There’s no air conditioning, just a small fan. I wouldn’t come back.

The staff were rude and unhelpful throughout, and seemed to go through the motions instead of actually trying to sort things out. There were serious maintenance problems at Hotel Il Moro Di Venezia. There was no hot water from the first day, and nobody told me. When I raised it at the front desk, they seemed to know already. They initially acted as if they were looking into it, then said it was broken and nothing could be done. The air conditioning didn’t work either. After I complained several times, they said it was controlled at reception, then eventually admitted it never worked and told me to open the windows.

The bathroom was private to me but located outside my room, and it smelled like sewage mixed with seawater. There wasn’t any air freshener at the hotel to cover the smell. Apart from that, it was a nice, affordable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, there were plenty of places to eat right outside, and the station was only three minutes away.
