The location was beautiful, and the hotel itself looked lovely, but it didn’t feel like a five-star stay. The first room had a shower covered in mold, and water came out of only half the shower head. They moved us to a much better room, though it was still pretty standard, nothing special. Staff were a mixed bag. Several people at the front desk were incredibly rude and passive aggressive during our stay. They were unfriendly when I asked about charges on the bill, too. Also, if you’re coming from the train station or airport, keep in mind that the hotel is VERY far away. For what we paid, I was unhappy with the stay and wouldn’t return.

We had a beautiful, luxurious room with a traditional high-end Venetian feel, and the service and breakfast were both great. My wife and I stayed for three nights, and it was probably one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. The main attractions and public transport are just a short walk away. Can’t fault it.

After a week in Venice, my wife and I came to Hotel Metropole for a massage and a private relaxation session. The spa manager was wonderful and gave us both excellent massages. The spa was intimate and private, just right for properly unwinding away from the city. We’d definitely recommend it.

The hotel’s decorations were a favorite. Wandering the little maze of hallways, looking at the exhibits and unexpected details, gave the stay a nostalgic feel. It’s also conveniently close to a boat station, and St. Mark's Square is within walking distance.

The hotel is charming, with a beautiful gothic and oriental style influenced by the East’s role in ancient Venetian times. The citrus garden is lovely, the location is great, and the staff were polite. But be cautious about the free boat trip the hotel offers to a glass factory in Murano. They show you glassmaking, then take you to a gallery. If you show interest in anything, they can get very pushy about a purchase before sending you off to Burano. Prices are very high. I’d researched ahead of time and had a few Murano glass artisans in mind: Salviati, Simone Cenedese, Barovier & Toso, and Venini. When we said we wanted to walk around the island and check out other places first, they claimed there was nothing else there except factories, and that those places were just gift shops. That’s when I realized they were trying to scam us into buying a €500 set of small glasses with no brand or master signature. We left the factory, explored the beautiful island, which has a lot to offer, and arranged our own transport to Burano. That isn’t what I’d expect from a five-star hotel, hence the three stars. It’s still a lovely, charming place to stay, but be careful of this Murano scam and any others.
