Palazzo Giovanelli Hotel

The hotel is beautifully kept and in a peaceful spot just beyond the busiest tourist areas. It takes about a 12 minute walk to reach the heart of the city. Staff across reception, the restaurant and bar, and housekeeping were amazing. Special thanks to Nic, the hotel GM, who took time in the evening to tell us about the building, give us a little tour, and discover our ties to the Chicago area. I'd recommend this hotel and would happily stay again.

The hotel was excellent, with gorgeous rooms, friendly staff, a quiet location, and an excellent breakfast. They served fresh baked pastry, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, cheese, and thinly sliced meats. The maître d' had such a great personality that it was hard not to smile at his greeting, even while jet lagged. I do have a complaint about a recommendation we received to go to Murano for free. Beware, it was a full blown tourist trap. Take the vaperetto instead. I find recommendations in Italy can be self serving. I was tired and thought perhaps the hotel had a taxi, but when I asked, I was told only four star hotels had one. We ended up at a glass factory with high pressure sales jerks, wasting half the day. I'll never get that time back, a day in Venice wasted. Karma is all I can say to the guy.

Palazzo Giovanelli was a great discovery. We enjoyed the stay, especially the cozy, comfortable rooms, caring and knowledgeable staff, and perfect location. We'd definitely recommend it.

We had a private glass factory tour arranged for us on Moreno Island, and the private water taxi was a real help with our luggage. The hotel is beautiful and the service was impeccable. Its location is a welcome escape from the crowds and tourist spots, and our room looked out over the Grand Canal in every direction. I’d absolutely recommend this place to anyone hoping to find a gem in a busy city.
