We came across this quiet church while walking just off the busier streets. There’s not a great deal to see inside, but it’s peaceful, free to enter, and worth a quick stop if you’re nearby. Its elaborate Baroque facade stands out against the calmer interior. The church was founded in the 8th century and rebuilt more than once, including after a fire in 1105 and again in the 17th century. Look for the crucifix of San Moisè.

This lovely little church is an underrated find in the heart of Venice. There’s no entry fee, and it’s much less crowded than Saint Mark’s, the main attraction, which is often overrun with tourists. People do wander in, of course, but you won’t be standing in line. It’s a working parish, too.

A pretty, peaceful church with lots of interesting paintings. Entry is free, and it’s a nice place to stop while walking around Venice.
